Work in Progress
I’m currently working on three different projects.
“Each poem has a wound / aching for every other. / For any other.” Malilenas developed out of notebook I called Numerological Notebook begun in late 2005 in despair about money, love, the war—. Malilenas is a series of 47 numbered poems with various links and doublings played out in a (for me) more intimate space of rhetorical turns. (Forthcoming from Ugly Duckling Presse, 2009.)
“Drawing life / from life / so that nothing remains / but content.” The poems in Beautiful Methods attempt to further develop themes and techniques in Some Mantic Daemons, ranging across various terrains of skeptical apprehension and doubt—the uses of technology and reason, the unifying illusions of media, the meaning of daily experience, the images of memory. This movement is by contrast or opposition, both within the poem and in the relationship between poems. Or this movement is virulent mutation.
“On Tuesday he gave candy to his family and neighbors, but wouldn’t explain why.” I’m also working on a prose poem book called Abode, which is a kind of mystery or riddle. This piece began with an obsession with Beckett’s The Lost Ones, whose opening line is “Abode where lost bodies roam each searching for its lost one.”
